As I Go

lyrics

We don't stay comfortable for long
actions weak but opinions strong
we can't keep running from the change
trip and fall into the grave

count my regrets on the way down
leave my story to the lost and found
hear my silence, it's the primal sound
look to the sky although you know i'm in the ground

We don't speak honest truth no more
just leave a note on the front door
pick up the trash and wash the floor
push our worries to the core

count our failures when it's too late
leave our stories to the church and state
hear our silence screaming out our fate
look to the sky as we are all barred from the gates

All I saw was all I knew and
all I felt was what was true and
nothing mattered in the end so
why did I always pretend that
someone was there watching me
I just saw myself running free and
in reverse my choices played
back to the cries on my first day
it was so simple then as now
there's just the overwhelming how
of everything working as one
containing so much pain and fun
and as I go, somebody comes
